Ashford Class Descriptions:
This is a fun and interactive class for the young dancer and a favorite adult! Not just limited to Mommies; aunts, sisters, cousins, Daddies, grandparents and friends are also welcome to join! Emphasis is on activity songs, basic locomotor and dance movements, and tumbling. Open to dancers near age two thru four. Both little and big dancers are welcome to wear any form of athletic wear including tank tops, leotards, tights, sweat or yoga pants. Ballet slippers are optional.
MGOS Class Descriptions:
Beginner Irish Dance - This class is designed for the students ages 4-7 who have little to no dance experience. This class is fast paced and fun! Emphasis is on learning the basics of Irish dance. Dancers will perform 1 recital dance.
Irish Dance and Culture Fun- This class is involves story telling, crafting, and of course, lots of dancing! Perfect for the student who wants to have learning to Irish dance, and perform the St. Patrick’s Day Parade and end of the year recital.
Advanced Beginner Recreational Irish Dance - This class is designed for the student age 5-9 with at least one year of Irish dance experience. Emphasis is on perfecting the basic movements taught in Beginner Irish Dance while learning more advanced movements. Dancers will perform 1 recital routine.
Performance Team - This class is designed for students ages 7 and up who have at least 3 years of Irish dance experience. Emphasis is on perfecting basic movements, learning traditional Irish Ceili dances and working together as a team. Dancers will be expected to perform at St. Patrick’s Day shows, the Parade, and the Recital
MGOS Competitive Program:
** Prerequisites: 1 year of Irish dance class at MGOS and Teacher invitation to competitive program **
Beginner Competitive - Focus is on technique and preparation for your dancers first feiseanna.
Advanced Beginner to Novice Competitive - This class is 90 minutes of hard-shoe and soft-shoe drilling with intense focus on technique and stage presence. It is mandatory that students participate in 2-3 feiseanna per year.
Prizewinner to Open Championship - This class is 90 minutes of hard-shoe and soft-shoe drilling with intense focus on technique and stage presence. In this class we also prepare the students for Regional and National Competitions.
** It is expected that Preliminary and Open Championship dancers participate in a minimum of 5 feiseanna per year.
